Linnar Looris


Mr. Looris received his classical ballet training from Tallinn Ballet School in Estonia.
He toured with the European Dance Festival around France, Italy, and Switzerland before joining Estonian National Ballet in 2001, where he became a Principal Dancer the following year. In 2006, he joined Birmingham Royal Ballet (UK) as a Soloist. He joined Houston Ballet (USA) in 2007 and danced with the company for 12 years, retiring in 2019 as a First Soloist. Mr. Looris received both the Philip Morris Young Dancer of the Year Award and the Foundation of Culture Scholarship Award, as well as recognition for his talents in countless international dance reviews. He performed major principal roles in a variety of acclaimed classical and neo-classical ballets, and was especially known for his dancing and partnering skills in the story ballets. Many choreographers created roles on him, and he enjoyed opportunities to tour to and guest in Finland, Sweden, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, England, Spain, Australia, The Philippines, United Arab Emirates, Canada, and the United States. Mr. Looris also has been a ballet teacher and coach for numerous companies and organizations including San Diego Ballet, Hope Stone Company, Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, Woodlands Civic Ballet, Claire School of Divine Dance, Texas Academy of Dance Arts, Vitacca Vocational School for Dance, Uptown Dance Company, Open Ballet Pearland, Bayou City Ballet School, The Harid Conservatory, Estonian National Ballet, Houston Ballet and American Ballet Theater. In August 2019, Mr. Looris became the Artistic Director of Estonian National Ballet.
