Hans Nilsson

Hans Nilsson graduated from the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm in 1981 after having started his dance training in the United States where he was born
and raised. After his studies he started straight away in the Royal Swedish Ballet where he danced for twenty- five years. He finished there as Principal and Court
dancer in 2006. During his time at the Opera he danced most of the male lead roles in the classical repertoire and, among other things. works by John Neumeier, Kenneth Macmillan, Per Jonsson, Mats Ek, Birgit Cullberg, Glen Tetley, Pär Isberg, Orjan Andersson and
Jorma Elo.
After his time in the Royal Swedish Ballet, Hans has had a rich and varied freelance career with a dance project that moved between various dance styles from the baroque to the present day, Drottningholm to the Black box as well as teaching, coaching, and his own choreography. As a freelancer, he has, among other things. danced in works by Bogdan Szyber and Carina Reich, Susanne Jaresand, Birgitta Egerbladh, Björn Elison, Susanne Rydén and Maria Lindal and Johan Petri.
The dance has also brought him on tours and guest performances, including a year in Les Grands Ballets des Canadiens as Principal dancer.
